The Association of Motor Vehicle Importers-Representatives (AMVIR) was founded in 1934 and represents the companies that import and distribute new passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, vans, lorries, buses and motorcycles on an exclusive basis in Greece.

AMVIR has been recognised as a reliable advisor to the Greek state and consistently promotes the preparation of applied studies on road transport, with main aims:
  • The protection of the environment by promoting the use of new, modern technology, less polluting, vehicles and the withdrawal from circulation and recycling of old and heavily polluting vehicles.
  • The advancement of road safety, through supplying the market with cars that are characterised by increased passive and active safety features.
  • The constant technical monitoring of the fleet of circulating vehicles' condition.
  • The improvement of the quality of life, particularly in large cities, through traffic load reduction and parking space increase.
AMVIR members, as representatives of the vehicles manufacturers, have the responsibility for the development and operation of vehicle points of sale, maintenance and service, based on qualitative and quantitative standards, while AMVIR ensures the promotion of the members' products through the acclaimed vehicle shows (International Motor Show, Motorcycle Exhibition and Commercial Vehicle Exhibition).

Since 1993 AMVIR is a member of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), which has included the International Motor Show in its, demanding and rigorous in terms of technical standards, calendar of shows, and also of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), which represents the European car manufactures to the EU..
